Look for the contrast in the picture to make your picture more impressive
Contrast is an important part of photographs. Just like drama promotes the plot by creating contradictions, contrast is also an important way to attract viewers to view photos. The process of finding images in a photo is actually a process of finding contrast. Knowing how to manipulate the contrast in the picture can make our photos better.
First we need to know what contrast is. Contrast means difference. For a picture, the most common difference is achieved through the composition of the picture tone (light and shade) or color changes. A high contrast image can present a completely different feeling than a low contrast image.
One of the simplest contrasts is the tonal contrast, which refers to the contrast between the brightness differences between the elements in the image. While tone contrast can play an important role in all types of photos, it is especially important for black-and-white photos. If a photo contains both very dark and very bright tones, it has a high tonal contrast. Similarly, if a photo contains a range of intermediate tones but lacks both black and white hues, the contrast will be low.
Secondly, color contrast. Although it requires some knowledge of color theory to create an interesting color photo, it only needs to know some simple color basis to create color contrast in the image. We divide colors into two opposite groups, cool colors and warm colors. By co-existing cool colors and warm colors, we can also create contrast in the image. Juxtaposition of red and green, blue and yellow creates a strong sense of contrast.
Different textures can also form contrast. We can juxtapose rough elements and delicate elements in the picture to create contrast, just like a subject with a large number of textures placed under a smooth background. Although it is difficult to find a smooth background, there is a very simple way to help us create a smooth background with the equipment, which is to open the aperture wide and use the depth of field to smooth the background, and make the background fuzzy and soft by shallow depth of field, so as to form a sharp contrast with the clear main body texture.
Compared with the above comparison, the emotional comparison is relatively abstract. It is not an objective expression, but more like a subjective expression. Whether the sense of contrast can be generated depends on whether the viewer can understand the placement of the comparison element.
Generally, emotional contrast is used to express works with plots. Through emotional contrast, viewers can think about the stories in the picture and feel the emotions in the picture. As a photographer, contrast is that we need to take into account in the picture of the key factors, with good contrast, can help us to effectively convey images of emotions and information, through the tone color contrast, let viewers interested in content, through the comparison, mood let viewers to the story and the mood of the underlying picture more interested.
