Description
Give Your 11x14 Canvas a Defined Finish
A small painting or canvas photo deserves a thoughtful presentation. This 11x14 floating frame surrounds your existing stretched canvas with a visible gap, creating a distinct border while keeping the front of the artwork on display.
Designed around the nominal 11 x 14 inch canvas format, with slight variations in actual width and height accommodated. Enter your canvas’s measured dimensions in centimetres, and we make the outer frame to fit the size you provide.
Which Type of 11x14 Artwork Are You Framing?
A photograph printed on stretched canvas and a loose paper photograph need different framing solutions. Use the guide below to choose the appropriate route for your artwork.
| The artwork you have | What to do before ordering |
|---|---|
| Stretched canvas print or painting | Check its outside dimensions and thickness. The canvas should already be stretched over supporting bars. |
| Loose paper photograph, poster or art print | Choose a framing system designed to support paper artwork. Matching the 11x14 size label does not make a canvas floater frame suitable. |
| Rolled canvas | Have it stretched first, then measure the completed stretched canvas for the frame. |
| Canvas board or a rigid art panel | Contact us with the panel thickness and photos of its back to check whether an appropriate fitting method is available. |
Order Your 11x14 Canvas Frame to Fit Your Artwork
The 11x14 name identifies the nominal canvas format. Your own measurements determine the fit of the frame you receive.
Exact Size of Your Existing Canvas (in cm)
Measure the outside width x height of the complete stretched canvas, including the fabric around its supporting bars. Enter those actual measurements in the text box, keeping decimals where needed.
Slight differences from the nominal size are allowed. Do not add the floating gap or frame border; we allow for these when making the frame.
Depth (Thickness) of Your Existing Canvas
Measure from the front canvas surface to the back edge of the supporting stretcher frame. Select the appropriate thickness: 2cm / 3cm / 4cm.
These options describe your existing canvas thickness. If your measurement falls between the options, contact us to confirm which one to select.
Make a Small Canvas Feel Considered in Your Space
At roughly 28 cm x 36 cm before framing, this format can work as a small feature or as part of a collection. Plan its relationship with the surrounding furniture and artwork.
A Single Piece with Room Around It
Use an 11x14 canvas to add a personal detail beside a reading chair, near a desk or within a smaller section of wall. Leave enough space around the completed frame for the artwork to feel intentional.
View the proposed position from where you usually sit or stand. A small image with fine detail often benefits from a place where you can enjoy it at closer range.
A Pair or a Gallery Arrangement
A repeated frame finish can connect two small canvases, even when their subjects differ. Within a gallery arrangement, compare the frame colour with neighbouring pieces rather than choosing it in isolation.
Measure each canvas separately when ordering more than one frame. Use the completed outside frame dimensions to plan alignment and spacing.
Portrait or Landscape
Choose the orientation that follows your existing artwork. For reference, the exact inch-size canvas is 27.94 cm wide x 35.56 cm high in portrait, or 35.56 cm wide x 27.94 cm high in landscape.
Record actual width first, then height, in the orientation you intend to display. The finished frame extends beyond the canvas on every side.
Choose the Border by Looking at Your Artwork’s Edges
For a compact artwork, the surrounding border can noticeably change the presentation. Compare the colours nearest the canvas edges, then consider the wall behind it.
| Available finish | A useful way to compare it |
|---|---|
| Black | Consider it when you want a clear outline, or when dark details in the artwork can connect visually with the frame. |
| White | Compare it with pale backgrounds and lighter interiors. Check how the white border looks against both the canvas edges and the wall. |
| Woodgrain / Light Woodgrain | Consider these for a warmer appearance. Compare the tone with nearby furniture without feeling that every wood-look surface must match exactly. |
| Gold / Antique Gold | Compare the warmth of these finishes with earthy colours, traditional subjects or other warm accents in the room. |
| Silver | Consider how a cooler border looks alongside the artwork and any nearby metallic details. |
Select your preferred finish under Floating Frame Color. Colour names describe appearance; they do not identify a timber species. If you require solid timber or a particular frame profile, ask us to confirm the specification before ordering.
