FRAME ONLY · KEEP YOUR EXISTING CANVAS

A Frame for the 16x24 Canvas You Already Own

Finish an existing canvas print or painting with a separate outer frame. This 16x24 floating frame leaves a visible reveal around the stretched canvas, defining its outline while keeping the complete front surface of the artwork visible.

The inch size converts to 40.64 cm x 60.96 cm. Use that conversion to identify the format, then measure the canvas itself for your order. The frame is prepared using the actual outside dimensions you supply.

Outer floating frame only. Canvas printing, a blank canvas and artwork are not included. Artwork shown in product images illustrates the framing effect.

16x24 Inches and 40 x 60 cm: Close, but Different

When choosing a 16x24 canvas floater frame, compare physical dimensions rather than size labels alone. The table shows exact conversions for common labels; a finished stretched canvas can still differ from its advertised dimensions.

Canvas size labelDimensions in centimetresHow it compares
16 x 24 inches 40.64 cm x 60.96 cm The nominal canvas format for this product
40 cm x 60 cm 40 cm x 60 cm Same 2:3 proportion, but smaller in both dimensions
16 x 20 inches 40.64 cm x 50.8 cm Same short side; the long side is 10.16 cm shorter
18 x 24 inches 45.72 cm x 60.96 cm Same long side; the short side is 5.08 cm wider
A similar proportion does not mean an identical fit. Compared with 40 cm x 60 cm, a true 16 x 24 inch canvas has a short side that is 0.64 cm longer and a long side that is 0.96 cm longer. If your canvas measures 40 cm x 60 cm, enter those measurements; do not replace them with the inch conversion. For a different format, such as 16 x 20 or 18 x 24 inches, browse frames by size or ask us to check the correct listing.

Portrait or Landscape? Record the Dimensions This Way

The 16 x 24 inch format has a 2:3 proportion. It can be displayed vertically or horizontally; record width x height in the orientation in which you plan to display the artwork.

Portrait: Taller Than It Is Wide

For a vertically displayed canvas, width runs across the shorter side and height runs along the longer side.

Nominal reference: width 40.64 cm x height 60.96 cm.

Landscape: Wider Than It Is Tall

For a horizontally displayed canvas, width runs across the longer side and height runs along the shorter side.

Nominal reference: width 60.96 cm x height 40.64 cm.

Write the measured width first, followed by the measured height. For example, if your landscape canvas actually measures 61 cm wide and 40.6 cm high, enter 61 cm x 40.6 cm. Keep any decimal measurements. These references do not replace measuring your own artwork, and there is no need to crop or resize an existing canvas to match them.

Check the Canvas You Have, Not Just Its Original Label

A canvas bought from another printer or an artist can be suitable. Its source is less important than its actual dimensions, thickness and stretcher construction.

1

Check the Outside Edges

Measure the complete stretched canvas, including the fabric wrapped over the stretcher bars. Check width near both ends and height along both sides so you can spot uneven edges.

If the readings differ, or the canvas has bowed bars or corners that are out of square, send us the measurements and clear photos before ordering.

2

Match the Actual Canvas Depth

Measure from the front face of the canvas to the back edge of its supporting stretcher frame. The available depth options are 2 cm, 3 cm and 4 cm.

Select the matching option. For a depth between the listed sizes, such as 3.5 cm, ask us to confirm suitability rather than rounding up or down.

Measure the canvas, not the proposed frame. Enter its outside width x height in the Exact Size of Your Existing Canvas (in cm) field. Do not add extra space for the shadow gap, and do not enter the finished outer frame dimensions.

Choose the Finish and Plan the Space Around Your Canvas

Consider both the border you want to see around the image and the space available for the completed framed artwork.

Choose Against the Artwork Edges

Look at the colours nearest the edge of your canvas when comparing the available frame finishes. A contrasting finish gives the perimeter more definition; a quieter tone can create a softer transition to the wall.

Use the product images and current colour options to guide your choice. If a particular frame material matters to you, confirm the material of that finish before ordering.

Allow for the Complete Outer Frame

The finished display will be larger than the canvas because the outer frame and floating reveal add to its dimensions. The 16x24 name describes the nominal canvas format, not the final outside frame size.

If the artwork must fit an alcove, an existing wall arrangement or a limited space, ask us to confirm the finished outside dimensions for your chosen option.
