FRAME ONLY · REFRESH YOUR EXISTING CANVAS

A New Surround for Your 12x15 Canvas

Keep the painting or canvas print you already enjoy and update its presentation with a 12x15 floating frame. A visible reveal separates the stretched canvas from the surrounding frame, adding definition while keeping the complete front of the artwork on display.

This listing is for the nominal 12 x 15 inch canvas format, including slight variations in actual dimensions. Enter your canvas’s measured width x height in centimetres, and we make the frame to fit the measurements you provide.

Outer floating frame only. Canvas printing, blank canvas, artwork and canvas stretching are not included. Artwork shown in product images illustrates the framing effect.

12x15: A 4:5 Canvas Format

An exact 12 x 15 inch canvas measures 30.48 cm x 38.1 cm. The comparison below helps distinguish nearby labels; these reference dimensions do not replace measuring your artwork.

Canvas size labelDimensions in centimetresProportion
12 x 15 inches 30.48 cm x 38.1 cm 4:5
12 x 16 inches 30.48 cm x 40.64 cm 3:4
30 cm x 40 cm 30 cm x 40 cm 3:4
12x15 and 12x16 describe different formats. In portrait orientation, the exact inch formats share the same width, but 12x16 is 2.54 cm taller. A 30 cm x 40 cm label is also a different physical size. Check the canvas itself and keep its actual measurements when ordering.

The 4:5 proportion describes the shape of a 12x15 canvas; it does not establish frame compatibility by itself. Other 4:5 sizes still need a frame matched to their own dimensions. For a substantially different canvas format, browse frames by size or contact us to confirm the appropriate option.

Refresh the Frame While Keeping the Artwork

For a finished 12x15 painting or photo canvas, the choice is how to present the work you have. Consider both its front edges and its wrapped sides when choosing the surrounding frame.

Keep the Front Composition Visible

A floater frame surrounds the stretched canvas without a conventional front lip overlapping the image. This presentation can be useful when painted detail, a photograph’s composition or a signature extends towards the front edges.

Your existing artwork stays at its current size. There is no need to crop the image or commission a new print to add an outer frame.

Choose How Strongly the Border Stands Out

Compare the offered finishes with the colours at the canvas perimeter. A dark finish can strengthen the outline; a lighter finish can soften the transition to a pale wall. A woodgrain or metallic finish can connect with other details in the room.

Select from the current Floating Frame Color options. Colour names describe appearance; ask us to confirm the material or profile if you require a particular specification.

Front visibility and side visibility are different. The amount of wrapped canvas visible from the side depends on how the canvas sits within the selected frame profile. If the painted sides or canvas height are central to your display, send us a side-view photo and confirm the fit before ordering.

Measure the Canvas You Want to Keep

The frame is made using the actual measurements you supply. Slight width and height variations around the nominal 12 x 15 inch format are accommodated.

1

Record the Canvas Width and Height

Measure outside edge to outside edge across the complete stretched canvas, including the fabric around the supporting bars. Enter actual width x height in Exact Size of Your Existing Canvas (in cm).

Keep any small differences from the nominal size, including decimal measurements. If the canvas already has an outer frame, use the canvas dimensions rather than that frame’s outside size.

2

Measure Its Thickness Separately

Measure from the front canvas surface to the back edge of the supporting stretcher frame. In Depth (Thickness) of Your Existing Canvas, choose 2cm / 3cm / 4cm.

The depth selection describes your canvas thickness. For a measurement between the available options, ask us to confirm which option to select.

Enter the canvas size only. We allow for the floating gap and decorative frame border when making the frame. Adding either of these to the numbers you enter would describe a larger canvas. If the bars are bowed or opposite edges measure differently, contact us with measurements and photos before ordering.

Before adding the frame to your cart, check the measurements, depth, finish and displayed price. Your canvas will need to be secured inside the outer frame. If you need fitting guidance, confirm the assembly method and supplied accessories for your selected option.

The complete frame will extend beyond the canvas. For a fixed display space, ask us to confirm the finished outside dimensions. Shipping is calculated at checkout; for a required delivery date, contact us with your canvas measurements, postcode and deadline.
