Description
An Outer Frame for Your 30x40 Canvas
Finish a stretched print or painting with a 30x40 floating canvas frame. A visible reveal separates the canvas from the surrounding border, giving the artwork a clear perimeter while keeping its front surface visible.
This frame is for an existing canvas in the nominal 30 x 40 inch size, including slight variations in its actual dimensions. Enter your measured width x height in the Exact Size of Your Existing Canvas (in cm) text box. We use these measurements to make the floating frame to fit your canvas.
A Frame Made to Fit Your Existing Canvas
The standard conversion for 30 x 40 inches is 76.2 cm x 101.6 cm. Your canvas may differ slightly from this reference size. Use its actual measurements when completing the options below.
Exact Size of Your Existing Canvas (in cm)
Measure the complete stretched canvas from outside edge to outside edge. Enter its actual width x height in centimetres in the text box, keeping decimals where needed.
Slight variations from the nominal 30 x 40 inch size are accommodated using the measurements you provide. Do not add the floating gap or frame border; we allow for these when making the frame.
Depth (Thickness) of Your Existing Canvas
Measure the thickness from the front canvas surface to the back edge of its supporting stretcher frame. Choose the appropriate option: 2cm / 3cm / 4cm.
This selection describes your existing canvas thickness. If the measured thickness falls between the available options, contact us to confirm which option to select.
Preview the Full Framed Size on Your Wall
A canvas around 30 x 40 inches creates a substantial wall display. Start with your measured canvas size, then allow space for the floating gap and surrounding frame border when planning its position.
Start with the Canvas Footprint
Use the actual width x height you entered for your order as the starting rectangle. For reference, an exact 30 x 40 inch canvas measures 76.2 cm x 101.6 cm in portrait, or 101.6 cm x 76.2 cm in landscape.
Use a paper template to judge the scale above furniture or alongside neighbouring artwork. This outline represents the canvas only, not the finished frame.
Confirm the Complete Outer Size
The floating gap and frame border extend beyond that rectangle. Ask for the finished outside width and height of your selected frame when the available space is limited.
Update your template to those confirmed dimensions before deciding whether the completed display fits.
Check the Surrounding Clearance
Look at nearby shelves, doorways and other pictures, as well as the wall area itself. Compare those boundaries with the complete framed dimensions in the intended orientation.
The canvas’s depth option does not tell you the finished frame width, height or projection from the wall.
Check Canvas Fit and Installation Before Ordering
A 30x40 floater frame is for artwork already stretched over supporting bars. The size, thickness and construction of that existing canvas determine suitability.
Canvas Depth Determines the Fit
Measure from the front canvas surface to the back edge of its supporting stretcher frame. In Depth (Thickness) of Your Existing Canvas, select 2cm, 3cm or 4cm to match your existing canvas.
These are canvas thickness choices. They do not specify the width of the decorative front face. If your canvas is between options, confirm the fit before ordering.
Fitting and Hanging Are Separate Tasks
The canvas must be secured within the outer frame; the completed display then needs suitable wall-hanging fittings. Confirm the fitting method and what accessories are supplied with your selected option.
Choose wall fixings for the wall construction and total framed weight. A 30x40 label or a 4 cm canvas depth alone does not establish a weight rating.
If your artwork needs a specialist fitting method, contact us before purchase. Confirm the material and profile of your selected finish if your project requires a particular specification.
