Description
12x16 Floating Frame for Your Finished Canvas
Give an oil painting, acrylic artwork or canvas print a defined outer edge with a 12x16 floating frame. The stretched canvas sits within the surrounding frame, with a visible space that creates the floating effect.
Order the frame around the artwork you already have. We use the actual canvas dimensions you enter, so measure your finished canvas before selecting its depth and frame colour.
Framing an Oil or Acrylic Painting? Check the Canvas First
A 12x16 floater frame for canvas can finish a painted artwork as well as a canvas print. Choose around the physical canvas, rather than the paint medium alone.
Start with the Support Behind the Painting
Check that the artwork is canvas stretched over a supporting stretcher frame. Oil or acrylic describes the paint; it does not tell you whether the support is stretched canvas, a thin canvas board or a rigid panel.
For canvas boards, cradled panels or unusual supports, confirm compatibility with us before using this listing.
Show Any Raised Texture from the Side
If the painting has pronounced brushwork, thick paint or attached mixed-media elements, send a side-on photo along with the measured canvas width, height and thickness.
Ask us to check the selected frame profile and how the artwork’s front will sit. Do not assume that a deeper option automatically accommodates every raised surface.
Set Up Your 12x16 Canvas Frame Order
Have the painting in front of you when completing these four fields. Accurate canvas measurements are more useful than the size printed on an old label or receipt.
| Product option | What to enter or select |
|---|---|
| Exact Size of Your Existing Canvas (in cm) | Measure the complete outside width x height of the stretched canvas, including the wrapped fabric. Keep decimal measurements. Do not add a floating gap or the decorative frame border. |
| Depth (Thickness) of Your Existing Canvas | Measure the existing canvas thickness and choose the matching 2cm, 3cm or 4cm option. These values describe your canvas, not the frame face width or floating gap. If the thickness falls between the options, confirm fit before ordering. |
| Floating Frame Color | Choose Black, White, Woodgrain, Light Woodgrain, Gold, Antique Gold or Silver. Compare the finish against the artwork’s colours using the product images. |
| Order Notes | Record relevant canvas details or the fit information already discussed with us. For raised texture or an unusual support, resolve the compatibility question before placing the order. |
Choose a Finish That Works with the Painting
Black gives a stronger outline; white can create a lighter transition. Compare Woodgrain and Light Woodgrain for a warmer visual effect, or Gold, Antique Gold and Silver for a metallic accent.
Consider the colours near the artwork’s perimeter as well as the wall. The finish names describe the available choices; they do not specify the frame material.
Allow for Fitting and the Complete Frame
Your canvas will need to be fitted and secured inside the outer frame. Contact us if you need fitting guidance or confirmation of supplied fixing accessories.
The completed frame extends beyond the canvas. If wall space is limited, ask for the finished outside dimensions of the selected option before ordering.
