Description
Frame Your Existing 8x12 Canvas Photo or Painting
Give a favourite photo canvas or original painting a floating presentation. This 8x12 floating frame surrounds an existing stretched canvas with a visible gap, adding an outer outline while keeping the artwork’s front surface visible.
Order from the physical canvas you have. Enter its actual outside dimensions in centimetres, match its thickness and choose a frame colour. You do not need to upload a photo for printing or order a replacement canvas.
Which Size Should You Use for Your Frame Order?
For an existing photo canvas, there can be several different size references. The actual stretched canvas determines the frame fit.
The Physical Stretched Canvas
This is what the frame must fit. Measure the complete outside width and height from canvas edge to canvas edge, including any blank areas on the front. Leave any existing decorative outer frame out of the measurement.
The Original Photo or Image File
Pixel dimensions, a camera setting or a previous paper-print size do not establish the size of the finished canvas. Even when the file is labelled 8x12, check the stretched canvas itself.
The Completed Outer Frame
The surrounding gap and frame border make the completed framed display larger than the canvas. Use finished outside dimensions when planning wall space; ask us to confirm them for your selected options.
Check Both Sides of an 8x12 Canvas
8x12 is a distinct rectangular format. It is easy to recognise the familiar 8-inch or 12-inch side and overlook the other measurement.
| Canvas format | Exact inch conversion in cm | Difference from 8x12 |
|---|---|---|
| 8x12 inches | 20.32 cm x 30.48 cm | The reference format for this listing. |
| 8x10 inches | 20.32 cm x 25.4 cm | Same short side; the long side is 5.08 cm shorter. |
| 9x12 inches | 22.86 cm x 30.48 cm | Same long side; the short side is 2.54 cm wider. |
An exact 8x12 canvas has a 2:3 proportion in portrait orientation and 3:2 in landscape orientation. If your canvas is a different nominal size, browse floating frames by size. For the wider 9x12 format, see the 9x12 floating frame.
Complete Your Frame Options From the Canvas Itself
Enter the Actual Canvas Size
Use Exact Size of Your Existing Canvas (in cm): to enter your measured outside width x height. Write the width first in the orientation you intend to display. Keep measured decimals instead of substituting the dimensions printed on a label.
Match the Canvas Thickness
Measure the stretched canvas from front to back at the side, excluding any separate outer frame. In Depth (Thickness) of Your Existing Canvas:, choose 2cm, 3cm or 4cm to match. Ask us about a measurement between the options before selecting one.
Select the Frame Finish
The Floating Frame Color: choices are Black, White, Woodgrain, Light Woodgrain, Gold, Antique Gold and Silver. Compare the product finish images with your artwork and the other frames in the room.
Review Your Order Details
Use Order Notes: for helpful information about the canvas or its orientation. Check the dimensions, depth, colour and displayed price before adding to cart. Confirm unusual edges, panels or uneven canvas construction with us before ordering.
Shipping is calculated at checkout. If you need help with fit, fitting instructions or confirmation of supplied mounting accessories, contact us about your existing canvas before placing your order.
